Michael Ferguson

Prior to joining BGS, Mr. Ferguson worked as the Mexico Analyst in the State Department’s Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC). While at OSAC, Mr. Ferguson was responsible for providing all-source intelligence analysis of security risks to the private sector in Mexico and Central America, as well as serving as a liaison between the private sector and the department. Before joining the State Department, Mr. Ferguson worked in the crisis and risk practice at Edelman, a global communications firm. He has also completed internships with the Americas Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), the Wilson Center, and the Mexico practice at McLarty Associates.

Mr. Ferguson graduated with general honors from the University of Chicago with a B.A. in Public Policy and a minor in Spanish. In 2024, he graduated from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) with an M.A. in International Relations, with a concentration in security and statecraft in Latin America. While at SAIS, he served on the executive boards of the Global Security and Conflict Management Club and SAIS Pride. Mr. Ferguson is proficient in Spanish and speaks conversational Portuguese.
