Beacon Global Strategies (BGS) today announced that Lauren Speranza has joined the firm as an Associate Vice President in its Defense and Aerospace Practice. Lauren brings a decade of experience shaping national security and defense policy across government and think tanks, with a particular focus on NATO, allied defense cooperation, and transatlantic strategy.
Prior to joining BGS, Lauren served as Special Assistant to the Secretary of Defense at the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), where she coordinated across the Department on high-priority policy and intelligence initiatives. Her work spanned a wide range of global issues, including supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression, managing conflict in the Middle East, and bolstering deterrence against China. She also served in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy, Plans, and Capabilities, contributing to implementation of the 2022 National Defense Strategy and work on force posture, emerging technologies, and allied cooperation.
Lauren previously held senior roles at the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) and the Atlantic Council, where she led research on NATO modernization, hybrid threats, and European defense policy. Her work has been featured in major media outlets including the BBC, Washington Post, CNN, Bloomberg, and Foreign Policy.
“Lauren brings a rare combination of policy depth and transatlantic expertise that directly aligns with our clients’ evolving needs,” said Erik Raven, Managing Director at Beacon Global Strategies. “Her experience at the highest levels of the Pentagon and within NATO-focused institutions makes her uniquely positioned to help clients navigate complex defense challenges on both sides of the Atlantic.”
