Prior to joining Beacon, Ben Schramm was the Director of National Security Operations at Maxar Intelligence, a commercial electro-optical satellite company which provides high-resolution satellite imagery and derived geospatial data to its clientele. His role focused on engaging stakeholders across the National Security community to ensure business development and strategic growth efforts were tailored to the needs of current and future customers.
Ben has a combined twelve years of civilian and active duty service with the Department of Defense. Most recently, he served as the Senior Advisor and Chief of Staff to the 25th Secretary of the Air Force where he was a member of the Senior Executive Service. During this time, he supported the Secretary’s priority to create the United States Space Force. His civilian defense experience also includes service as a Special Assistant to the 23rd Secretary of Defense, Deputy Chief of Staff and Director of Strategic Engagement to the 24th Secretary of the Air Force, and Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs.
Ben is a combat veteran who served on active duty as a Marine Corps officer for eight years. He deployed to Helmand, Afghanistan as a platoon commander in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Additionally, he was a Military Social Aide to the President of the United States and an Aide-de-Camp to the Deputy Commanding General of the second Marine Expeditionary Force. He was also selected to march in ceremonial events at Marine Barracks Washington, including the Friday Evening Parades.
Ben is a recipient of the Department of the Air Force Decoration for Exceptional Civilian Service, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat “V,” and the NATO Meritorious Service Medal.
Ben holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgetown University and a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.
