Carter Clelland

Carter Clelland joined Beacon Global Strategies in August 2023. Prior to joining Beacon full-time, Carter Clelland worked as an Analyst for BGS in 2022 and 2023. From 2020 to 2022, Mr. Clelland served as a research assistant for LTG H.R. McMaster at the Hoover Institution in Stanford, California. Under LTG McMaster’s leadership, he led research projects on global health, emerging technologies, security dynamics in Northeast Asia, and People’s Republic of China investments in Latin America.

Concurrent with his undergraduate studies, Mr. Clelland served as a fellow working on logistics and strategic communications at U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM). At INDOPACOM, he researched military construction projects, optimized data analysis software, and briefed senior leadership weekly on Indo-Pacific security trends. In 2022, he worked in Stuttgart, Germany as an operations fellow for U.S. European Command (EUCOM) where he investigated global energy flows and the impact of economic sanctions on Russia.

Mr. Clelland graduated from Stanford University, with distinction, with a B.A. (Honors) in International Relations and International Security Studies, focusing on the Indo-Pacific region. He holds an M.A. in International Relations with specializations in the European Union and international economics from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington, D.C. and Bologna, Italy. Mr. Clelland is proficient in Spanish, Italian, German, and Russian.
