Dalton Barthauer

Dalton Barthauer joined Beacon Global Strategies in July 2023 as an Associate. Prior to joining BGS, Mr. Barthauer was an Indo-Pacific research analyst supporting the U.S. Trade and Development Agency as a government contractor. At USTDA, he helped develop information and communication technology infrastructure projects in Indo-Pacific countries designed to boost U.S. exports. Mr. Barthauer was an associate of due diligence and compliance at Kroll, Inc., where he conducted open-source investigations on foreign and domestic entities and individuals in regions such as Central Asia, the Indo-Pacific, and Sub-Saharan Africa for a wide variety of clients.

Previously, Mr. Barthauer was an international affairs writer for the Davis Political Review, where he focused on national security and human rights issues. He previously interned for the Office of California Assembly member Evan Low, where he conducted research on hate crimes against the Asian and Pacific Islander community during the COVID-19 pandemic and helped introduce several pieces of legislation. Mr. Barthauer began his career serving clients in the construction and agricultural industry coordinating large materials deliveries.

Mr. Barthauer holds an M.A. in security studies from Georgetown University, where he studied great power competition between the United States, Russia, and China with a special emphasis on Central Asia and intelligence. He holds a B.A. in international relations from the University of California, Davis, where he focused on Russia, Eastern Europe, and national security.
