Beacon Global Strategies (BGS) today announced that Arturo Cardenas has joined the firm as an Associate Vice President in its Indo-Pacific Practice. Arturo brings nearly a decade of experience at the intersection of global trade and advanced technology, analyzing PRC technology, trade, and export control dynamics for the U.S. Intelligence Community.

Prior to joining BGS, Arturo served as a senior CIA analyst, including in the China Mission Center and the Transnational and Technology Mission Center, where he led Intelligence Community analysis on PRC technology, trade, export controls, and leadership dynamics. He advised senior U.S. and foreign officials on China’s industrial policies and research and development efforts and served as a lead analyst on biotechnology and critical minerals.

Arturo also served as a President’s Daily Briefer for U.S. Cabinet members with a portfolio spanning the National Security Council, the Office of Science and Technology Policy, and U.S. military leadership in active-war environments. Earlier in his career, he was a biomedical engineer at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, where he conducted and published research on traumatic brain injury related to blast exposure.

“Arturo spent the last decade working at the center of US-China economic security competition, from export controls and critical minerals to biotechnology and the supply chains that underpin national power,” said Eric Sayers, Managing Director of BGS’ Indo-Pacific Practice. “That experience will help our clients navigate where economic security policy is headed and position themselves for success.”

Arturo graduated from Brown University with a Sc.B. in Biomedical Engineering and a B.A. in Classics.
