Beacon Global Strategies (BGS) today announced that Michael Sobolik has joined the firm as a Vice President in its Global Technology Practice. Michael brings deep expertise in technology policy and national security, with a career spanning government, think tanks, and public commentary on how emerging technology and national security concerns increasingly shape private sector decision-making.
Prior to joining BGS, Michael was a senior fellow at Hudson Institute, where he researched the intersection of technology, geopolitics, and competitive strategy. He previously served as a senior fellow at the American Foreign Policy Council, where he led one of the council’s regional security programs. Michael began his career in Washington in the United States Senate, where he was a legislative assistant to a senator.
Michael is the author of Countering China’s Great Game: A Strategy for American Dominance (Naval Institute Press, 2024)and has testified before Congress on multiple occasions, including before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and the House Committee on Natural Resources. His commentary has appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Bloomberg, and Reuters, and he has appeared on Fox News, ABC, CBS, and PBS, among others.

Michael holds a Master of International Affairs from the Bush School of Government and Public Service and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Texas A&M University.
