Beacon Global Strategies (BGS) today announced that Steve Vanech has joined the firm as a Senior Vice President in its Intelligence Practice. Steve brings more than two decades of national security and intelligence experience, helping government leaders anticipate threats, manage strategic risk, and make decisions in complex operating environments. His work spanned geopolitical risk, counterterrorism, transnational crime, emerging technologies, and the protection of critical assets.

Steve served in several leadership positions at the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), including Acting Director/Deputy Director where he led the U.S. counterterrorism enterprise and delivered integrated intelligence, strategic planning, and operational support. As the Office of the Director of National Intelligence’s Counternarcotics Executive, he strengthened cooperation between the intelligence community and federal law enforcement, and advanced information-sharing solutions. Earlier in his career, Steve served as Deputy Chief of the National Security Agency’s Office of Counterterrorism, enabling intelligence, military, and law enforcement operations around the world. He began his national security career as an analyst at the Defense Intelligence Agency.

“Steve has led at the highest levels of national security, with a focus on the integration of the intelligence, homeland security, and law enforcement communities. He knows both what these agencies need and how they operate,” said Andrew Hire, Managing Director at Beacon Global Strategies. “That makes him an invaluable guide for companies looking to support the national security mission.”
